Please review my VIOLIN LESSON policy

Dear Parents/Guardians/Students:

Please take a moment to read the following policy.

SCHEDULE/CANCELATIONS: I am offering weekly violin lessons from after Labor Day in September through about the third week of May. If you need to cancel, for any reason, you MUST give me a minimum of 24-hour notice. Cancelled or missed lessons CANNOT be made up or refunded.

FEE: ½ HOUR TUITION = $30 + 3% borough tax. Monthly tuition is DUE at the first lesson of the month.

REFERRAL CREDIT: If you refer a student who signs up for lessons with the studio, the referring student/parent will be awarded a $30 credit per student sign up. Referral credits will be applied to monthly tuition as a discount.

SEMESTER AGREEMENT: Just like a college course, in joining my studio, a semester commitment is required. Should you have to terminate for any reason, you must insure your child’s balance for lessons is PAID in FULL. If your child is leaving the studio, parents are required to give 2 weeks prior notice in writing or verbal communication before the student’s last lesson to compensate for the difficulty of filling an open time slot in a partial year. Parents are still financially responsible for their child’s last 2 week’s tuition.

LESSONS: It is VERY important for the parent(s) to attend the 30-minute lesson with their child in order to help the child remember what to practice during the next week. Parents are expected to sit through lessons and take notes. I am in essence teaching you how to teach your child for daily home practice.  We are a team working together to ensure the success & progress of your child!

PRACTICE: I expect all students to be prepared & to set aside the suggested daily time for their music studies. The amount of daily practice time depends on the age of each student. Please listen to the instructor about the amount of practice time your child will need. It is important to establish a daily practice routine. This builds strong habits & helps reinforce what we address during lessons. The more consistent the practice routine, the more improvement your child will make. Lesson assignments will be recorded & submitted via the Tonara practicing app. This app is FREE for students.

BEING ON TIME FOR LESSONS: Being on time to lessons is very important as there are other lessons scheduled before & after yours. If you are late for a lesson, I will not go beyond the scheduled lesson time because of tardiness, however, you will be required to pay for your entire 30-minute scheduled lesson.

RECITAL: There will be one Spring Recital the first part of May. Your student will be performing two pieces. Location and time TBA.

WAYS TO GET INFORMATION: Students may get their lesson assignments through Tonara.

Parents/Guardians can get information from Tonara, email &/or text messages.

VIDEO CHAT LESSONS: If due to COVID/illness concerns, you are unable to attend in person, are you prepared to attend online lessons as opposed to being charged for a lesson that you were unable to attend in person? I prefer to use Messenger’s Video Chat as it is more stable compared to other platforms.

LACK OF PROGRESS: If a violin student does not show progress, I will let the parents know immediately, so we can reassess and come up with an improvement plan. I am willing to give students a chance to redeem themselves, but ultimately without daily violin practice, progress will not be made. It is at that point, that I will recommend the student discontinue with violin lessons. Unfortunately, it is a waste of the parent’s time & money, along with my time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my studio policy.
